Yes, that was the name of an old early eighties hit by The Korgis. It was an excellent song that still rings today. It actually leaves the possibility to each listener to make her/his personal interpretation.
The Korgis themselves didn’t do much before or after. Unfortunately, neither did the two members’ previous excellent band Stackridge except become one of the cult favorites. So, maybe the band didn’t ‘learn’ much either, except continue making some quality pop, but the message is still there.
Personally, that message is don’t let too much time pass between newsletter issues, things can get a bit stale. To that effect, here’s, again, some music that just might pass under the radar. And it shouldn’t.
The Workday Release - Every Voice I Hear Is Mine
It can be hard for singers/songwriters because it often means working in solitude. But with all the pitfalls, such solitude can produce some excellent music. This seems to have happened to Souther California’s David Ottestad, who seemingly covers the subject matter with ‘Every Voice I Hear Is Mine,’ from his latest album 'Like The Light Of Stars.’ Obviously, solitude also has its benefits.
KMRU - OT
KMRU is Berlin/Nairobi sound artist Joseph Kamaru, who is coming up with ‘Logue,’ a compendium album of his compositions over the years. If ‘Argon’ is something to go by, Kamaru is certainly able to combine African polyrhythms with the so-called Berlin sound.
Small Reactions - New Age Soul
Different artists have different interpretations of what soul music should sound like, and Atlanta’s Small Reactions certainly have their take. Does it have anything to do with what is usually considered soul music? Actually, it does, both in the sense that they do pour their soul in this number, but also in how rock musicians perceive soul music as such. Very promising.
The Hymns - Reset
London’s The Hymns seem to have quite a few inspirations. Joy Division, Surf music, My Bloody Valentine, and the list seemingly goes on based on this 4-song EP. Whether they have yet to decide which firm direction they’ll take, makes no difference, they’re doing justice to their sources’ credit here.

c/a -Docile Goetica
You can file this one under ‘charmingly weird’ and if ‘Docile Goetica’ is really the only way this post-genre duo know how to have fun, we’ll all certainly have some with their latest album that goes under the title ‘The Only Way We Know To Have Fun.’
